Dustin had the opportunity to address the Baltimor

Dustin had the opportunity to address the Baltimore City Council regarding Baltimore City Council Bill 25-0062, which pertains to single-stair multi-family buildings.

Single-stair multi-family buildings offer compact cores, improved net-to-gross efficiency, and better daylighting opportunities. Their use has long been restricted in U.S. building codes due to fire/life safety concerns.

Baltimore City Council Bill 25-0062, introduced in May 2025 by City Councilman Ryan Dorsey, proposes amending the Baltimore Building Code to allow single-exit residential buildings under specific, controlled conditions.

One of the highlights was hearing from Carl Elefante, FAIA, whose reminder that “the greenest building is one that is already built” continues to influence how we think about sustainability and practice at inPLACE Design

Grateful for the chance to connect with colleagues and leave inspired to keep pushing for meaningful change.
