Saturday August 6, 2022, the inPLACE Design team was proud to participate in and promote the Colorful Indonesia Festival at the Carroll Creek Park in downtown Frederick, Maryland 21701.

One of our Principals, Haris Koentjoro, served as the Colorful Indonesia Committee Chairman.  The committee successfully created a beautiful immersive Indonesian experience even down to the hot temperatures!

The already beautiful Carroll Creek Park was skillfully transformed into a cultural center and open market.  The air was heavy with traditional culinary delights while the sidewalks and creek served as the backdrop for ceremonial and celebratory dance and music exhibitions.  Gentlemen and ladies were clad in the most ornate and colorful traditional robes and costumes drawing the spectators into the beautiful and joyful celebration of Indonesia.

“Indonesia, comprising of over 17,000 islands and over 500 ethnic groups, is home to immense diversity of traditional and contemporary cultural expressions. In this Colorful Indonesia Festival, we can see a glimpse of delightful Indonesian culinary, culture, art, the community, and the core value of “Bhineka Tungal Ika” (Unity in Diversity).” – Haris Koentjoro
