inPLACE Design’s, Haris Koentjoro is to speak at the Bandung Institute of Technology (Institut Teknologi Bandung) webinar as part of their celebration of 70 Years of Architecture Education. The presentation will occur on October 31, 2020 at 9:00am (GMT+7). The topic is, “Toward Knowledge-based and Innovative Design.”
The ITB Architecture Study Program progressively responds to the increasingly complex and dynamic developments of science and technology, while maintaining the spirit of architectural education that rests on creative activities with a focus on social contributions to society. The challenge is how to create architectural education that is up-to-date and unique, but always inclusive, participatory and emphasizes empathy.

As an industry expert with more than 20 years of experience, Haris Koentjoro, spent the early years in his career working in Indonesia, where he was born and raised. He was able to bring his knowledge and experience with him when he came to the USA. As a Principal and Director of Design Haris has been at the forefront of the design concept and development of countless international projects, including master plans, retail, mixed-use, corporate offices, and entertainment centers. A few noteworthy examples of his Indonesian work include: the Pondok Indah Mixed Use, Bintaro X-Change TOD masterplan, Grand Kamala Lagoon Smart District, Metland Cyber City, and Metland’s Royal Venya Resort in Ubud, Bali.
Over the years, he was also involved in projects based in China, Turkey, Russia, Middle East and South America, such as the Xicheng, Shenzen China, Kartal Tower, Istanbul Turkey, Marina Roscha mixed use Russia and the Dubai Festival City. Haris’s design work has taken him to 26 countries and over 114 cities around the world, providing a wealth of knowledge about worldwide design trends and what makes at great place.
Haris is a frequent speaker on retail and mixed-use projects at conferences around the globe.
