This 1892 farmhouse in Lutherville-Timonium had been renovated and expanded in 1997. The owners wanted to create an open floor plan, bring more natural light into the spaces, and provide a contemporary experience. The transformation involved the renovation of the existing kitchen, great room, dining room, and secondary entry hallway. The work included removal and modification to existing walls, floors, and ceilings, custom cabinetry, kitchen equipment, countertops, light fixtures, floor finishes, and wall finishes.
The resulting new group of rooms adopt modern, well delineated forms with lighter materials and surfaces, custom walnut cabinetry, and Caesarstone countertops. Utilizing white, grey, and wood, while maximizing natural light generates an open and airy ambiance. The design balances family-friendly comfort with an unassuming sophistication.
