Construction has started on the new restaurant fit-out of Wayward Smokehouse and Curious Oyster located at The Avenue at White Marsh. The project is a renovation of an existing building. This is an expansion of the Wayward Smokehouse in Federal Hill neighborhood in Baltimore. Curious Oyster is a new concept created by the owner that will debut at The Avenue.
The renovation includes extensive modifications to the exterior and interior of the building creating a unique brand identity for each restaurant. Both restaurants blur the line between outdoor and indoor with garage doors and accordion windows that lead to outdoor dining areas.
“We are looking forward to seeing the project come to life and the great barbecue and oysters.”
Wayward’s design reflects a rustic imaging focused around the fire and the soulful recipes behind the food. The project uses the ancient Japanese technique called Shou Sugi Ban as a siding material. The charred surface contrasts with clean un-charred wood representative of the process of barbecuing.
Curious Oyster’s design looks toward the Chesapeake Bay for its influences, a classic rustic charm with a contemporary approach. The design is approachable and unique. A place where people can come, feel welcome, have fun and have a great experience
The project will be complete this summer.
